# Warm Home Discount 2026: what it is and how to get your £150

The Warm Home Discount is a one off £150 credit on your electricity bill, for eligible households in England, Wales and Scotland. The scheme is run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Here's how it works this winter, what you may need to do and who to contact if something doesn't look right.

## What is the Warm Home Discount?

It's a £150 credit applied to your electricity bill to help with winter costs. Credits are applied between October 2026 and March 2027. We aim to have all credits applied by 31 March 2027.

## Who gets it?

There are two groups, and which one applies depends on where you live and the benefits you receive.

### The Core Group (England, Wales and Scotland)

The DWP decides who is in the Core Group by matching benefits records. You don't need to apply. The DWP sends us lists of eligible Fuse customers every week between October 2026 and March 2027 and we apply the credit for everyone on them. Not being on the first list doesn't mean you won't be on a later one. The DWP sends batches until March, so your name may appear in a later round.

### The Broader Group (Scotland)

If you're in Scotland and you're not already in the Core Group, you may be able to get the discount through the Broader Group. Eligibility for this group is decided by us, not the DWP, and you do need to apply. Applications are expected to open around early November 2026 and close around late January or early February 2027. Incomplete applications can't be credited, hence, it is important to finish the whole form.

## Which supplier pays the discount?

Whoever supplied your electricity on **23 August 2026** pays your discount in England and Wales. Credits are never transferred between suppliers, even if you've since switched.

| Situation | Who pays |
| --- | --- |
| Fuse supplied you on or before 23 August 2026 | Fuse, once the DWP sends us your details |
| You joined Fuse after 23 August 2026 | Your previous supplier. Contact them and the helpline. |
| You've moved houses | The supplier of your old property, because the DWP will hold those details |

## What to expect from the DWP

The DWP may write to you in one of two ways:

### A letter confirming you're eligible

Letters start going out from 16 October 2026. You don't need to do anything. Your supplier credits your account once they receive your details. A letter in a partner's or household member's name is alright, as long as the meter point number (MPAN) matches your account. If your letter arrived more than a month ago and you haven't been credited, message us in the Fuse app.

### A letter saying you may be eligible

This letter asks you to call the Warm Home Discount helpline to confirm.

- **Helpline number:** 0800 030 9322
- **Helpline opens:** 19 October 2026
- **Deadline to claim:** 26 February 2027
- **Helpline closes:** 31 March 2027

The helpline will ask for your account number. Your phone number is your account number.

## Getting credited: what we can and can't tell you

Only the DWP can confirm whether you're eligible, so we can't tell you either way. We also can't promise a specific payment date. What we can say is that credits arrive between October and March. Once a credit has been applied, you'll see £150 credit on your account. It goes towards your electricity bill, so if you're not sure where it is, message us and we'll check. If you haven't been credited and you have proof you're eligible, such as a DWP letter, send it to us and we'll look into it.

## Can you ask for the credit to be withdrawn or refunded?

If you have already been credited, the discount is meant for your electricity bill, so it will go towards your next bill.

## Need help?

Message us in the Fuse app. Human support and an AI assistant are both available 24/7, and we're here to help with any questions about your Warm Home Discount.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need to apply for the Warm Home Discount?

Not if you're in the Core Group. The DWP matches benefits records and sends your supplier the list. If you're in Scotland and not in the Core Group, you do need to apply through the Broader Group once applications open.

### How much is the Warm Home Discount?

£150, applied as a credit to your electricity bill.

### When will I get my £150?

Credits are applied between October 2026 and March 2027. We can't give an exact date for any individual customer.

### I haven't received a letter. am I not eligible?

Not necessarily. The DWP sends letters and lists in batches until March, so check back later.

### I got a letter saying I may be eligible. what do I do?

Call the Warm Home Discount helpline on 0800 030 9322 (from 19 October 2026). Your phone number is your account number. The deadline to claim is 26 February 2027.

### I switched to Fuse after 23 August 2026. can I still get the discount?

In England and Wales, your discount is paid by whoever supplied you on 23 August 2026. If that wasn't Fuse, contact your previous supplier and the helpline.

### I've moved houses. who do I contact?

Contact the supplier of your old property, because the DWP will have your details from that address.

### When do Scottish Broader Group applications open?

We expect early November 2026, closing around late January or early February 2027 (dates to be confirmed).

### Who do I contact if I think there's a mistake?

Message us in the Fuse app and we will look into it for you.
